| New maps coming next week as part of 1.6 patch |
|
|
Next Thusday the 'Variety Map Pack' will be released in conjunction with the next CoD4 patch, 1.6 and more good news, thanks to a partnership with nVidia it will be free to download.
The map pack will include 4 new maps, Chinatown, set in a street block somewhere in downtown China, Creek which looks similiar to the current map Overgrown, Broadcast, which looks to be the most promising map in the release in my opinion and finally Killhouse set in a huge warehouse.
Although there was much anticipation about a version of Valve's SourceTV it has not yet been announced whether 'CoDTV' will be included in this update, however according to Infinity Ward's fourzerotwo "...expect to see quite a few promotions popping up leading up to the launch of the map packs on the 5th and beyond. I know NVIDIA has a lot of great things planned for PC users in addition to maps becoming available." As to what exactly these 'additions' may be, for the moment we can't do much but wait.
As for the 1.6 patch, which will be released as a separate download, various updates include the obvious support for new maps, fix a server crash exploit recently discovered and a "few additional features/bug fixes."
Full notes will be released next week. Here is a taster of the map pack that was released to consoles a few months ago.

| Top teams in Europe invited to ipowergames Trophy |

The Packard Bell ipowergames Trophy 2008 is an event that will invite 8 of the top teams from Europe to participate in a tournament held in Paris. The finals will be running alongside the Paris Gaming Show, hosted in the Palais Omnisports of Paris-Bercy.
The 8 teams will be selected from 8 different countries, the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and Switzerland. The teams will be selected using certain tournaments, the UK team was decided at i33, whilst the Swiss team was selected at Polymanga08 back in April.

| Live2Win announces CoD4 Season 2 |

The growing organisation Live2Win Gaming has announced a second season, following a well put together first Call of Duty 4 league earlier in the year.
The team have said that the second season will look to push home the idea that teams who are "..missing the part we can call 'responsibility' " will not be taking part. The league has also stayed with coverage partners Quadv and Tek-9 for all the latest news, although you can be sure to find all the latest results and previews right here on DailyCOD.
The sign-ups are under way, allowing 156 teams to put there name down for the qualification round, which will start on May 26th and run until June 1st, whereby the winners of each group of 3 will join the other invited teams for group stage 2.
As for the prize fund this season its currently at the €4000 mark for equipment from sponsors Shuttle, Cyber Snipa and Energy Gum, to name but a few.

Last two nights we were hosting our 16 Teams Night Cup in which as always participated some very known upcoming teams such as Direct Instinct, ephix, diamondZ e.V. and ghost
ghost took a victory in DailyCoD Night Cup #9, where managed to beat Greek team southpark.cod4 in the finals. southpark.cod4 played some hard matches against European top teams impex and ephix who finished third in a good match against Direct Instinct.
Night Cup #10 winners are diamondZ e.V., an upcoming German team. diamondZ e.V. have won the cup after a thrilled match vs zOMG who won GT-eSp in Semi Final, a team who placed 3rd at the end.
We here at DailyCoD want to congratulate all teams which participated in our cup and to wish them good luck in the future.

Today we are glad to announce that European CoD4 Community get the IRC PUG channel.
Channel is owned and managed by Multiplay and it\'s called Multiplay CoD4 S&D Pickup. The pickup channel is free for anyone to use and it\'s based on the i33 configuration. So if you want to get into some more competitive COD4 action or want to prepare for i34, just jump onto ([COLOR=orange]#mpukcod4.pickup[/COLOR]).
Once you join the channel, type !add and the PUG Bot will add you to the upcoming mix, and if you unexpectatly need to go just type !remove. Once when the mix is 10/10 you get the Game and Voice Server IP and then there is no way back. Bot is been designed to save all the played mixgames and saving who has played the most and there are some nice prizes for top mixer, top fragger etc.
Channel is relased 3 days ago and it started with 3 servers. Now there are about 10 servers online and there are already more than 350 mixes played, so that\'s over 100 mixes per day. Soon there will be relased Skilled Pickup channel for top teams in CoD4 to mix and it will probably be invite only.

| IRL wins COD4 Night cup #7 |

|
Yesterday we hosted 7th edition of our night cup. 32 teams participated with some well known teams like Intense DIGITRON, F.A.P, Direct Instinct, our cup winners IRL and much more.
IRL had pretty easy matches on the beginning, but then played a hard match against Tek-9 mix Kalainen which managed to place 4th at the end in a match against Direct Instinct.
Finals were played on mp_vacant between AfterLife and IRL, where IRL again managed to take a victory.

Last night we hosted another cup in our succesful cup-series! We had some great teams attending again such as NecroRaisers, inteRaction, station57, inFlux and of course our cup winners RMIX.
RMIX overcame some great teams such as NecroRaisers, station57 and inteRaction. The European mix team was up against the good looking inFlux, who won over the sides of te4m, ExceZ` and AP. The final was played on Crossfire, it was a good match but RMIX was just too strong and took the victory and first place.
Unfortunately match for 3rd place between inteRaction and AP wasn't played.

The remaining , non-seeded, teams will be randomly putten in a group with one of these teams, according to Robert \"Morg\" Black.

| ESWC Masters to host CoD4 tournament |

(Crossfire) has officially announced that the iPOWER tournament sponsored by Packard Bell at the ESWC Masters this summer will feature Call of Duty 4. However instead of multiple games it will now be just Call of Duty 4 and the first qualifier will be at Multiplay\'s i33 this weekend.
The iPOWER Call of Duty 4 tournament is set to take place mid July and will be held at the ESWC Masters in Paris, France. The first qualifier will be the 12,000 euro i33 competition, at which the top placed UK team will have the opportunity of representing the United Kingdom at the iPOWER tournament this summer.

Who knows, now that Call of Duty makers, Activision, and WOW makers Blizzard have merged, anything is possible. They may be considering turning the popular Call of Duty franchise into a MMO.
This is what Bobby Kotick has to say at the Morgan Stanley Technology Conference.
\"What would be the natural evolution of a property like Call of Duty into a massively-multiplayer environment and how do you monetize that?\"
It sounds like Activision are really serious about turning the FPS based game Call of Duty, in the MMO direction.

Today we hosted another cup in our succesful cup-series! It was the second cup with prizes. This time it was a private 14 slot server hosted by (Clanserver4u.de). We had some great teams attending again such as MGL, exabyte and OMG_Ninjas.
The cup went smoothly mainly thanks to rps and Touhu again. The final match was between MGL and exabyte, where I had to play 4 rounds myself and I absolutely owned! Exabyte Took the win quite easily with Xtctje from MGL crashing a few times but were kind enough to donate the server to MGL.
